Festivals, Flies, Food & Fun

Wow! It’s been a month since I last posted on my blog, I honestly don’t know where the time has gone. I am pretty easily distracted I guess and this random life of travel, eating for pleasure and trying to achieve the perfect tan has obviously got the better of me.

So, what tales can I tell of the last four weeks I hear you cry… to be honest, I’ve been quite lazy, just chillin’ out, maxin’ relaxin’ all cool (ok ok, I won’t rap again)

We spent 6-ish weeks in Wagga, which is a great inland city nestled between gorgeous farmland and remote country towns. The Murrumbidgee River runs through the city and if it wasn’t for the four hundred million files that inhabit the banks, it would have been an excellent place to sit and watch the world go by. Lake Albert was also only a short drive away, it was a great place to get some fresh air and enjoy a 5k stroll around the perimeter. The Botanical Gardens were a floral treat for the senses and also had a petting zoo attached which allowed the animals to roam and interact with visitors.

From Wagga we jumped on a Greyhound to Canberra, it only took 3 hours during which I devoured 6 avocado sushi rolls, a packet of crisps and a huge bottle of water. I also found the time to have a nap and watch an episode of Greys Anatomy. Good times!

Unfortunately Canberra wasn’t so good (sorry Canberra) It was crazy expensive and to be honest, we found it quite dull. The heat wave didn’t help, the temperature was easily reaching 40 degrees each day and we were badly prepared (as usual!) It’s saving grace was Chinatown to the North of the city in Dickson; 2 awesome vegan restaurants, a Japanese restaurant offering a delicious veggie friendly bento box, a great Thai take out that we ordered from one evening when the heat just got too much, overall a cool, funky place to chill out in the sunshine. I think this guy pretty much sums it up: weiss_ro96

We are currently back in NSW, a place called Long Jetty a couple of hours outside Sydney. We have once again employed the services of Air bnb and found ourselves a self contained pool house, with private a bathroom and kitchenette. It’s nothing special but, nor are we!

Check it out HERE 🙂

We went along to the Long Jetty Festival on Sunday, an event which celebrated 100 years of the jetty. It was good fun, food, drink and craft stalls. The temperature has also dropped about 10 degrees so walking has once again become bare able.
