We could all do with a little happiness boost from time to time and it would seem that by just choosing the right foods, we could do just that! There are certain foods out there that have a very specific set of micro-nutrients, and when consumed they make our brain chemistry go bonkers, it releases a tonne of endorphins, resulting in peace, harmony and happiness!

There are a couple of particular things to look out for when choosing your ‘happy’ food, including tryptophan (found in bananas) for regulating your mood, anthocyanin (found in berries) for reducing inflammation which has been associated with depression, quercitin (found in quinoa) lowers the possibility of depression, cortisol (found in dark chocolate) reduces stress levels, curcumin (found in turmeric) is a natural mood enhancer, folic acid (found in spinach) reduces fatigue, selenium (found in Brazil nuts) positively affects your thyroid, capsaicin (found in chilli) releases endorphins as a defence against the heat.
